Smithfield - Clinton E. Hardy, Sr., 82, went home to be with the Lord on February 24, 2015, after a long battle of illnesses. Clinton was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Hardy, two brothers, William Watkins and Joseph Hardy, two sisters, Marie Hardy Ford Johnson and Laura Hardy Wise, his wife, Amie Bernice (Bea) Hardy and one grandchild, Angelo Lamar Holmes. Clinton was a member of Little Zion Baptist Church where he faithfully served in many ministries. He was employed by the Newport News Shipbuilding and the Gwaltney Meat Packing Plant where he retired. He also owned his own business in Electronics Repair. He leaves to cherish fond memories, his four children, Clinton E. Hardy, Jr. (Cecelia) of Hampton, VA; Stephanie H. Claggett (Marshall) of Smithfield, VA; Gail H. Holmes (Jerry) and Victor L. Hardy (Shantia) of Newport News, VA; seven grandchildren, Medina, Emmanuel, Monique, Justin, Justin (Tajonee'), Jeremy, Jordan and Victor Jr. (VJ), three great grandchildren, Ju'Tajee, Justin Jr. and Ju'Vonte, and a host of other relatives and friends. A Homegoing Service will be held at 1 p.m. On Sunday, March 1, at Little Zion Baptist Church with Pastor Dr. Melvin T. Blackwell officiating. Interment will follow at the Baptist Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at his daughter's residence (Stephanie). Viewing will be held at the Shivers Funeral Chapel on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. Burial Date March 1, 2015
