Clementine Liggins Baker

In the chill and brisk of the morning on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 our beloved mother, Clementine Liggins Baker transitioned to commune with her Heavenly Father. Eternal rest became her portion after many years of servitude, caring for others and truly exemplifying love.  Clementine was born to a beautifully wedded couple, Willie and Novella Viola Liggins and from this union they yielded 14 other beautiful children. Affectionately called "Tine, "Clementine was educated in the Isle of Wight County Public School system where she academically progressed until graduation.

After graduation Tine went into the work force at Smithfield Packing Plant for many years. Her ever growing passion for cooking and hosting family gatherings grew immensely, so much so that she took on that function effortlessly. Her love and adoration for dancing, cooking and enjoying life could be reminisced as a favorite past time.

Tine is survived by her beloved daughter Betty Duncan, three grandchildren, Gary Jerome Baker, Ahman Nicole Duncan, Christopher Matthew Duncan, and three devoted great grand children, Kalah Gabrielle Reece, David Braylen Bradford and Gianna Rayne Richardson and siblings, Wilbert Liggins, deceased ( Beatrice ), Barbara Liggins, Lloyd Liggins ( Chonda ), Laura Liggins, Brenda Ravizee (John), Catherine Liggins Christian, Joyce Liggins Chapman (Ronell), Roscoe Liggins (Sharay), James Liggins (Lynn) deceased, Tony Liggins (Elizabeth), Raymond Liggins (Julia), John Liggins, Jerry Liggins (Tarmeka) and Paul Liggins ,deceased and an extensive lineage of nieces, nephews , cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00pm on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Faith Deliverance Baptist Church, 6116 Briarfield Rd. Newport News, VA. Viewing will take place on Friday, January 20, 2023 from 3-6pm at the Chapel. Please keep the Liggins-Baker family in your prayers.
