Christopher "Chris" Andrews Sr., 56, of Carrollton, transitioned to the Kingdom of GOD on December 27, 2020 due to complications from COVID-19. Chris was born on December 25, 1964 to Alfred T. Andrews Sr. and Willie "Sally" Foster Andrews in Springfield, Massachusetts. After graduating from Putnam High School in 1982, he enlisted in the United States Air Force on February 25, 1983. During his time in the Air Force, Chris was stationed in Plattsburgh Air Force Base in New York, Spangdahlem Air Force Base in Germany, Lowry Air Force Base in Colorado, Kadena Air Force Base in Japan, Kleklavik Naval Air Station in Iceland, and Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. Chris served two tours of duty in Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Storm and also served a tour of duty during Operation Iraqi Freedom. After a 24-year career in the Air Force, Chris retired with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. After retirement from the military Chris began a career in Human Resources with Colonial Williamsburg, where he was still gainfully employed as the Executive Director of Human Resources. Chris loved training and educating his colleagues whom he considered a second family. Chris was a life-long believer in the importance of higher education, and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Training and Development from Southern Illinois University as well as a Master's Degree in Human Resources Development from George Washington University. In Junior High School Chris met the love of his life Ilena Ryans, and they wed in February of 1985. Chris and Ilena enjoyed many happy memories together, including their love of travel which took them to many places around the world. Chris was preceded in death by his father Alfred T. Andrews Sr., his mother Willie "Sally" Foster Andrews, his brother Alfred T. Andrews Jr., his sister Willie Dean Andrews. Also his brothers Kevin Andrews, Ronald Andrews, and Richard Andrews. Chris is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ilena; along with his three beloved children Robert (Datiana) Bolden, Monique (Joseph) Andrews, and Christopher (Joseph) Andrews Jr. Chris is also survived by his sisters Jacqueline Andrews, Janet Andrews, Renee DuPree and Gloria Park. his brothers; Eric Andrews, Touram Allen and Harold (Stephanie) Andrews; as well as his six grandchildren Jyaire, Emme, Jaiden, Seven, Naima, and Nalia; and many nieces and nephews. A private Memorial Service will be held 10am Friday, January 8, 2021 at Shivers Funeral Home BY INVITATION ONLY. Private visitation will take place from 8-10am prior to the service. Burial will be private. The service will be available for live viewing on Shivers Funeral Chapel's Facebook Page and Zoom in an effort to protect the health and safety of our loved ones.
