The Life of Charles “Chilly” Turner
Charles J. Turner, 84, born May 2,1939, transitioned from this life on Thursday March 7, 2024, at Autumn Care of Suffolk, Virginia. He was a native of Nansemond County, born to the late Willie and Ida Edwards Turner.
Charles was employed with Sanders Supply Company for many years, where he later retired. His favorite hobby was talking on the CB radio and was known as the "Ever Ready Man." He was also the announcer for the Chuckatuck Trotters/Giants. His famous slogan was "You got the right one baby Uh huh."
Charles joined Solomon's Temple Church on May 9, 2010 and was a faithful disciple until his health began to fail.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Joyce O. Turner and his brother Nelson H. Turner.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory two children Ray Charles Edwards (Texas) and Lisa Ricks (Virginia), his siblings; Willie Turner, Sr. (Florence), Ida T. Golden (Jacksonville, Florida), Larry Turner, Connie Everett, Gene Turner, and Melvin Turner, Sr., sister -in law Mattie Turner and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00pm on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Viewing will take place on Friday, March 15, 2024 from 3-6pm at the Chapel. Please keep the Turner family in your thoughts and prayers.Friday, March 15, 2024
