On Friday, November 17, 2017 at 11:20 pm, after 41 days in children's hospital of the Kings Daughters; God called to rest a special little angel. Cha'Mariyah Nichole Durham passed beyond the rainbow and went peacefully home. She was born January 5, 2008 at Norfolk General Hospital to Ms. ShaIngrid Durham. Chamariyah was a faithful member of Little Zion Baptist Church Smithfield, Virginia. She loved God and the church. Consequently, she was also a member of the Sunday school and a proud member of the church's Youth praise dance ministry and choir. Cha'Mariyah gave her life to the Lord and was baptized at the tender age of seven on March 29, 2015. She was delighted to be able to actively participate in Holy Communion. Cha'Mariyah also loved school! She was in the 4
th grade at Westside Elementary School, and was doing very well in her studies. She never wanted to miss a day of school because; in her words to miss school was "boring." While in the hospital, her focus was on the rainbow. She would constantly draw and color rainbows with the words "God's Promise" underneath. She had Pastor Blackwell's cell number on speed dial and would not hesitate to call him, when she needed a word or prayer from him. He visited her often and she was so very comforted by his presence and his prayers. When Cha'Mariyah was asked if she was afraid to be alone in her room in pediatric ICU, she responded, "No. I see angels all around me"! And now our little "Angel" has gone home! She was preceded in death by her grandparents; Debbie Keys Durham and Bobby Durham, her great grandfather; Deacon Wesley Keys Jr. and her uncle; Melvin Keys. She leaves to cherish her memory her mother; Ms. Shaingrid Durham and her father; Dante Evans, 2 sisters; Kylea Durham and Rena Evans, her maternal great grandmother; Mrs. Julia G Keys, Paternal grandmother; Cheryl Brandon (Jerry), 2 great Aunts; Deloise Gwaltney (Kennith) and Cecelia Wilson (Alvin )whom she affectionately called "Gammy", 1 great great uncle; Elder Henry Newby, 2 great great Aunts; Mrs. Geraldine Chapman (Alex) and Adele Brown, 3 special "Aunts "; Raven Beamon (Micheal), Tisa Hollins (Charles) and Tara Davis (Dion) and a host of other relatives and friends.
