Carolyn D Hunter Jones

On Sunday afternoon, July 31, 2016, Carolyn Diane Hunter departed this life at Louise Obici Hospital surrounded by her family. Mrs. Hunter was born February 14, 1948 to the late Johnnie & Mae Jones of Franklin, Va. She was a graduate of Hayden High School class of '67. Upon graduation she moved to New York and was employed by Chemical National Bank until her retirement. Mrs. Hunter was preceded in death by her father and mother and one brother, Charles Jones, and one sister, Clarice Jones. She leaves to celebrate her transitioning one daughter, Vickie Denise Hunter, four sisters, Sofia Jones, Bettye Jones, Peggy Thompson all of Franklin and Mirinda Turner (Alvin) of Suffolk, two brothers Johnnie Jones, Jr. (Lorraine) of Surry and Melvin Jones of Franklin, one aunt Virginia Trotman of Franklin and one uncle Percy Jones of New Jersey, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held 10am on Friday, August 5, 2016 at Main Street Baptist Church, Smithfield, Va. Viewing will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2016 from 4pm - 7pm at the Chapel. Interment will be in the Southview cemetery, Franklin, Va. Professional services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
