Calvin E. Horton

Calvin Eugene Horton transitioned from this life on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Sentara Obici Hospital.

Calvin was a gentle giant with a loveable heart. He split his childhood between Brooklyn, NY and Ahoskie, NC. After earning his GED at Job Corp, he moved to Newport News, VA at the age of 19. He lived a full life as a loving companion, friend and father figure to many.

Calvin Eugene Horton was born on May 30, 1965 in New York City, NY. He was preceded in death with his parents Herman and Verleen Horton, brother Robert E. Perry and sister Rosa Mae Horton.

Calvin leaves to cherish his memory his companion, Mary Young (6yrs) of Dendron, VA, his five sisters; Mattie McCoy of Powellsville, NC, Elizabeth Horton of Newport News, VA, Gloria Harrell of Newport News, VA, Joanne Horton of Newport News, VA and Fatima Howell of Newport News, VA; three aunts Alberta Lassiter of Jacksonville, FL, Linda Perry of Newport News, VA and Mattie Pierce of Jacksonville, FL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

On Saturday, February 17, 2024 viewing will be held from 2-5pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. On Sunday, February 18, 2024 a Celebration of Life Service will be held 1pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Mr. Horton will be interred in the Perry Family Cemetery, 410 Newsome Grove Rd. Ahoskie, NC 27910. Please keep the Horton family in your thoughts and prayers.
