Byrdie M Holmes Blizzard

Byrdie Blizzard-Holmes, 72, went to eternal rest on March 27, 2016 at Med-Star Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. Byrdie was a native of Surry County Virginia and was the daughter of the late Joseph T. Blizzard Sr. and the late Frances Bailey Blizzard. She was employed with GEICO Insurance Company for many years before becoming an entrepreneur. She was a graduate of Luther Porter Jackson High School in Dendron, Virginia and continued her education at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia and Howard University in Washington, DC. She was preceded in death by her sisters; Barbara Blizzard Wilson and Marie Blizzard Clayton; brothers Albert Alexander Blizzard and Joseph Thomas Blizzard Jr. She is survived by her husband Leroy Holmes, two sons; Antione Leroy Holmes and Brannon Roosevelt Holmes, one stepson; Breyon Holmes (Shonda), two grandchildren; Jalen and Sydney, two brothers; Calvin Roosevelt Blizzard (Sylvia) of Wakefield, Va and Waverly Jerome Blizzard (Sara) of Philadelphia, Pa., two foster brothers; Robert Morton (Toni) and Stanley Motton (Catherine) both of Philadelphia, Pa., two aunts; Virginia Wilson (Gilmer) of LaPlata, Md. and Eunice Cabell (Frank) of Hampton, Va., three sister -in- laws; Mary Holmes Wise of Baltimore, Md., Earnestine Holmes White (Robert) of Waverly, Va., Beatrice Holmes Shaw (James) of Waverly, Va., three brother -in- laws; William and Thomas Holmes of Waverly and Stanley Holmes (Irene) of Hampton, Va.

Burial Date April 2, 2016

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12pm Saturday April 2, 2016 at Jerusalem Baptist Church, Surry. Viewing will be held Friday April 1, 2016 from 4 - 7pm at the chapel. Interment will be in the Saint Paul's Cemetery, Surry.
