Burton Wilson Parker

On Monday morning, August 8, 2022, Burton Wilson Parker took flight to rest in the arms of the Lord. He was the husband of Rev. Vivian Gray Parker. He was born to his beloved mother Martha Mae Parker and Burton H. Wilson on January 1, 1937. He was a graduate of Isle of Wight Training School, Smithfield, VA. Burton was an employee of the Newport News Shipbuilding. He was also a well-known barber. He worked alongside his father Burton, his cousin Alvin and a dear friend Paul Newby with heartfelt memories that expanded over sixty years. He was preceded in death by his late wife Gladys Bailey Parker and two brothers Willie and James Judkins. He was later wed to Rev. Vivian Gray Parker, at which time he joined Holly Grove A.M.E. Church, where he remained a faithful member until his passing. His favorite song was “Rock of Ages.” He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Rev. Vivian Gray Parker, seven step-grandchildren Andria, Philip, Darron, Chad, Sean, Noel, Arianna, two sisters Joan W. Gray and Elizabeth W. Clarke, one brother Eric L. Wilson, aunts Elizabeth W. Savage, Lucy W. Butler (Willie), and Rev. Marian Jean Johnson, two brothers-in-law George Gray (Lucy) and Sherman Gray, two sisters-in-law Nannie Walker (Milton) and Elsie Porter, his home health aide Mrs. Lila Brown, his gardener Rev. Richard Wrenn and a host of relatives and friends. A Graveside Celebration of Life Service will be held 2pm on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Holly Grove A.M.E. Church . Viewing will take place on Friday, August 12, 2022 from 3-6pm at the chapel. Please keep the Parker family in your prayers.
