Boyd M Thomas

Boyd “Donnie” McDonald Thomas transitioned into eternal rest on Sunday, July 23, 2023, in Chesapeake Virginia. Donnie was born February 2, 1961, to the late Leon Marshall and Mary Elizabeth Thomas. He was raised in Carrollton, VA and attended Smithfield Public Schools. After completing school he became skilled in mechanical work. Donnie was good with his hands and was a fast learner. He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys football team. He also had a love for cats.  Donnie’s family and friends would describe him as being outgoing and dependable.

Donnie was predeceased by his loving wife of 28 years, Iris G. Thomas. four brothers; Bobby Ray Thomas, Leon Ricky Thomas, Lonnie Marshall Thomas and Leon Marshall Thomas Jr., two sisters; Doretha Jones and Linda Beth Thomas.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his children; Dante (Sadie) Butler, Montae Butler, Francine M.  Owens (Kevin), Iris B. Harrell, Bernetta M. White  (Art), Bernard E. Boone Jr. (Czetta) and Roderick C. Boone (Sonya). Many grandchildren including Iyonah Ridley, Kahleik Butler, Jayden Butler, Jaleea Butler and Josiah Butler. three brothers; Michael Lynn Thomas, Craig Jeffrey Thomas and Anthony Lee Thomas, four sisters;  Mary Elizabeth Thomas, Cheryl Yvonne Judkins (Stacy), Yolanda Yvette Addison (Marqee) and Belynda Jeanette Sharpe and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.  

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00am Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Shivers Funeral Chapel.  Viewing will take place from 3-6pm on Friday,July 28, 2023 at the chapel.  Please keep the Thomas family in your prayers.
