Remembering Our Mother After eighty (80) years on this earth, Momentered into eternal rest on Tuesday morning,January 2. 2018. She leaves a legacy of love thatwill last through her children: Deborah Allen,Veronica Simms (E. Ricardo), Horace, Jr.(Towanda), Andriola (Michelle), one grandson,Wayne Allen, Jr., and one great granddaughter,Jada Simms.

"Sister" who she was affectionately called byher only surviving sibling, Charlotte Denson hascherished and loved her all the days of her life.Mom's passing has left a void in each of ourlives, but we know that she is in an eternalhome where she can always feel free withoutlimited mobility.

Her parents were Harold and Mozell Cornick,and her other siblings were James Cornick andAllean Green; one grandson, Armonte precededher passing.

Mom devoted most of her time to caring for herchildren, and we are appreciative that sheraised us to be the adults we are today. Being amother is a hard and rewarding job, and shewas definitely great at it. Devoting much of hertime and energy to caregiving continued to beher passion even after her children had lefthome. She was an active member of Shiloh BaptistChurch and served on the Usher Board until shebecame ill.

She is survived by her four children, a sister,grandson, great granddaughter and an extendedfamily that includes a host of cousins, nieces,nephews and friends who dearly have knownher as Aunt Blanche, Ms. Blanche, or just Friend.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 11am Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Shivers Funeral Chapel, Smithfield, Va. Viewing will be held Monday, January 8, 2018 from 4-7pm at the chapel. Interment will be in the New Jones Grove Baptist Church, Windsor, Va. Professional services are entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
