Betty Bradshaw Patterson

Betty Ruth Patterson, a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend was called home to be with the Lord on December 3, 2022.

Betty R. Patterson was born on September 11, 1947, in Isle of Wight County, Virginia to the Late Shirley Lee Bradshaw and Elnora Gay. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Patterson, Sr., her siblings, Catherine Bradshaw, Sarah Lee Bradshaw, Ethel Lee Babb, Shirley Lee Bradshaw, Stanley Bradshaw and Kenneth Bradshaw Betty received her early education at Camptown Elementary School. She was employed for many years as a Presser. In 2016 she retired from Carolina Cleaners in Suffolk, Virginia.

Betty was a faithful and active member of Olive Branch Baptist Church for over twenty years, where she served on the Usher Board, Sunday School and Kitchen Ministry. Betty was a kindhearted person with an infectious smile. In her leisure time Betty attended The Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia where she enjoyed fellowshipping with friends, crafts and going on outings. If she was not at the center putting smiles on someone’s face or spreading a kind word, she was surely cooking up something delicious. Betty was “famous” for her homemade rolls and lemon cake. People would call from all over to place orders for her delicious baked goods. She was also an avid Pittsburg Steeler fan where she enjoyed learning and watching the game. She spent countless hours putting puzzles together. It was a hobby that she truly enjoyed.

Betty leaves to cherish, her memory her children: Calvin Bradshaw, Wayne Bradshaw (Sharon), Terry Bradshaw (Cynthia), Denita Haslam (Keith), and Lawrence Patterson Jr., (Audrey); 23 beautiful grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Ann White; two godchildren, Emmanuel & Nathan McClinton; devoted nieces and nephews; Richard Bradshaw, William Bradshaw, Tracy Bradshaw, Melanie Bradshaw, Brian Bradshaw and Stella Bradshaw; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Betty was loved by many. Her passing leaves a void for all that were impacted by her life. She was surrounded by love and will truly be missed in the days and years to come.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00pm on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Chapel Grove UCC. Viewing to take place from 3-6pm on Friday, December 09, 2022 at the chapel. Please keep the Bradshaw-Patterson family in your prayers.
