Annie Bowman Hall

September 19, 1927 — March 20, 2022

DEACONESS ANNIE ELIZABETH BOWMAN HALL was granted her angel wings on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at the age of 94 years surrounded by her family in the peace and comfort of her home.

A native of Isle of Wight County, she was born September 19, 1927 to the late Sarah Jane and William Emmitt Bowman. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Deacon James A. "Shorty" Hall, Sr. and son, Michael Anthony Hall. Four sisters, Violet Wilson, Emma Jane Burrell, Lillie Green, and Adlena Major and one brother, Robert Wilson. Six grandchildren, Teresa Parker, Robert Wingo, Jr., Courtney Hall, Sandra Fields, William C. Parker, Jr., Stephanie Hall-Ellis and one son-in law, William C. Parker, Sr.

Nannie, as she was affectionately known, was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she served on the Pastor's Aide Ministry for many years and the Deacon/Deaconess Ministry until her health started failing her at the age of 91 years. A humble servant, she loved to cook and bake. Her specialties were lemon meringue, coconut, and sweet potato pies, red velvet cake, her delicious cream cheese pound cake, and homemade ice-cream. She began working at Smithfield Packing Company May 13, 1957, retiring June 1, 1990, after 33 years of service. After retiring she was a homemaker, enjoying time with her family and friends.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, three daughters, Jolene H. Parker, Margaret H. Wingo and Cathy D. Hall: four sons, Morris G. Hall, Sr. (Andria), William A. Hall (Joyce), Tracey L. Hall, Sr. (Beverly) and James A. Hall, Jr. (Crystal); one sister, Florence G. Lane; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and an adopted daughter, Reverend Barbara Parker and family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00pm on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Smithfield, Virginia. Viewing will take place from 2-4pm on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at the Chapel. Please keep the Bowman-Hall family in your prayers. View Memorial Video
