"I have fought a good fight, and I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." II Timothy 4:7 On Thursday, June 20, 2019, God in his infinite wisdom called our beloved Annette S. Blowe Ashby from labor to reward after a lengthy illness. Annette was born October 17, 1936 and was a lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County. Annette attended Isle of Wight Training School and graduated in 1954 as the class Salutatorian. She attended Norfolk State College. During her youth she joined Hill Street (Main St.) Baptist Church and in later years joined Christian Home Baptist Church. She was a faithful and devoted member, until her health no longer allowed her to continue. She was a faithful member of the choir and loved to sing, but most of all she loved the Lord. Annette was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah F. Clarke and stepfather, Eddie Hill, Sr., son, Steve Blowe and daughter, Jackie B. Batten and a brother Wendell (Bobby) Hill. She was also predeceased by her former husband, Timothy Blowe. Annette was employed for over 30 years at Smithfield Packing Co. She retired from the Virginia Baptist Retirement Home in Newport News, VA after 15 years of service. Annette was a quiet and humble person. Her infectious smile, friendly chuckle, and kind loving spirit will be missed by our family and all who knew her. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved her children and family. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. She was truly a jewel. Annette leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted husband of 51 years, Frank Ashby of Smithfield, VA; two sons, Felton Blowe (Felecia) of York County and Michael Blowe of Smithfield, VA; one stepson, Anthony Brown of Surry, VA; two brothers, Eddie Hill, Jr. (Maxine) and Donald Harris (Jackie) of Newport News, VA; two sisters, Carol Harris (Herman) of Smithfield, VA and Edwina Harris (Ronald) of Newport News, VA; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grand - children; three aunts Alice Johnson of Hampton, VA, Lucille Scott of Enterprise, Alabama, Earline Scott, Smithfield, VA; one sister-in-law, Delores Cuffey and a host of other relatives and friends.
