The sun set and with it our loved one went with it. Alice B. Johnson, of Windsor, Virginia, was from labor to reward on Thursday, March 3, 2022. Alice originally from Gumberry, North Carolina, was born on March 29, 1948, to the late James (Jack) and Catherine Boone, one of their six children. Alice graduated from Gumberry High School in 1966 and soon after she fulfilled her passion for others and became a Certified Nursing Aide. At an early age she was baptized and joined Bethlehem Baptist Church under Pastor Rev. C.C. Staton. Later, Alice relocated to Montclair, New Jersey where she was employed at-one of the local hospitals. Alice relocated again back to her hometown of Smithfield, Virginia where she met and married her husband Tommy M. Johnson, Sr. in 1974. Alice continued working as a medical care giver in several different capacities after retiring from Newport News, Inc. Alice was a member of Sandy Mount Baptist Church, before moving her membership to Mt, Tabor Church of God in Christ. She was active in her church, serving in whatever capacity needed. She was devoted to God even when she became ill, she was determined to fulfill her assignment. Alice LOVED God, and HIS people. Alice taught her children and grandchildren to pray and to trust God. Alice was preceded in death by her sisters; Margaret Kee and Catherine Boone and her brothers; Russell and Artis Boone. Alice leave to celebrate her life; her husband of 47 years, Tommy Sr., daughters; Tammy Crewes (Michael) of Montclair, New Jersey, Pamela Harrell (Joseph) of Hampton, Virginia; sons, Tommy, Jr. (Kalisha) of Manhattan, Kansas, Pierre (Keletha) of Smithfield, Virginia; sister, Annie Boone of Suitland, Maryland; fourteen grandchildren, Michael, -Jr., Ed, Courtney, Derek (Lauren), Jahvon, Joseph, Jr., Tevin, Thoman, Temetris, Elijah, Izaih, Josiah, Niepier, Justice; three great-grandchildren, Dereyon, Derek, Destini; two aunts, Susie Buffaloe of Gumberry, North Carolina, India Parker of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and a special friend that we are grateful for Joyce Bunch for her commitment and dedication during this time, and a host of 'other family and friends who loved her dearly. A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00pm on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Main Street Mission Center.
